Flat Rate Patent Attorney Randal Homburg

Flat Rate Patent Attorney Randal Homburg

Legal Background and Experience

I have been a practicing attorney in the State of Oklahoma since May of 1989, graduating from law school in the fall of 1988, taking the State Bar examination in 1989. Beginning my legal career with the Oklahoma Attorney Generals Office in 1986, I worked in private practice during and since law school, attending law school at night while maintaining full time employment to support a family. I am currently licensed in the State of Oklahoma, license No. 12,707, and have practiced in nearly every jurisdiction in the State Court system. I am also admitted to all Federal courts in the State of Oklahoma and licensed by the United States Patent & Trademark office, License No. 41,847. I am also a qualified mediator under the Oklahoma District Court Mediation Act. I have been in general civil private practice since 1988, first as an associate with the law firm of Niemeyer, Noland & Alexander, a member of Culp, Heath & Sushnik, as a partner in the law firm of Cohlmia, Homburg & Heath, P.C., Homburg & Heath, P.C. a solo patent practice, and the Assistant City Attorney and sole prosecutor for the city of  Midwest City. In my private practice, I have tried numerous jury trial and handled appellate actions at nearly every level, including multi-jurisdictional Federal  Circuit Courts. I have also represented clients during administrative hearings before boards and state agencies. Over the course of my practice, I have been responsible for the representation of thousands of clients, both plaintiff and defendant, individual and corporate, and currently represent numerous clients in patent matters, having suspended my civil trial practice to focus on patent preparation and licensing matters and my work for the City of Midwest City, other than matters dealing with the City.

Practice Emphasis

From 1986 as an intern, through 2000, my practice dealt primarily with tort litigation, complex and simple product liability matters, licensing and contract law. Most of that practice was a litigation practice in which I was counsel of record, several which required me to try numerous jury matters. After receiving my U.S. Patent License in 1998, I gradually shifted the focus of my practice to the area of intellectual property, but I still maintained a civil practice, primarily in the area of business and contract law, licensing and marketing, business and administration, business law, small business assistance, product liability defense and product consulting. The solo patent practice continues today, even though I work for the City of Midwest City as a municipal counselor involved in the prosecution of municipal violations, human resources, risk management, tort claim review and in the preparation of ordinances concerning the City of Midwest City.
